With all the chatter about smartwatches and smartphones over the Christmas season, I though we would move on the world of laptops and see what’s new. After years of not getting it quite right, manufacturers over the past couple of years have started delivering product that is really nice to use. It’s pretty standard now to laptops that come with SSDs, solid state drives, with capacities from 256 GB and up. Having an SSD as your boot drive really improves the speed at which your laptop boots and operates.
Perhaps the company that’s making the biggest splash is Huawei with their MateBook X Pro, which seems to be delivering a well configured machine and very reasonable prices. The top features include a stunning screen and a battery life that runs rings around many of its rivals. It also has a very competitive price, giving you features, design and performance for quite a bit less money. It can be yours for around $1500 plus taxes.
If you don’t mind spending a bit more, have a look at the Dell XPS 13. It also is a great laptop. The latest rev is a slim and comes with a stunning 4K display. It comes with an 8th-generation Intel Core i5 or i7 processor and a bezel-less ‘Infinity Edge’ display. If you want to stick with the market leader, the Dell XPS 13 continues to be the most popular Windows laptop in the world. What’s more, there’s a wide range of customization options, so you can really make the Dell XPS 13 the best laptop for your needs.
Asus is doing well with its new refresh of its ZenBook Flip S 2-in-1 laptop. With a new Kaby Lake R 8th-generation processor powering, plenty of RAM and a super-fast PCIe SSD, it’s really fast. The 2-in-1 design means you can use it as both a laptop and a tablet.
